I had the privilege of spending time with my uncle Daryl when my family would visit Sidney when I was very young. I have wonderful memories of him taking me on motorcycle rides, letting me drive my first tractor and my first four-wheeler. Any time I appeared bored or felt out of place when we'd visit, he would take notice and come over to talk to me. He'd offer to do something fun with me, trying to cheer me up and help me feel valued and at home. His kind and gentle heart is something I will always remember. I'll miss him greatly.

I worked for Daryl back in 1993. I learned to drive a beet truck with no brakes to teach me to shift and rely on my gears, not the brake. I was scared to death and he just laughed and said "you'll get it..keep practicing". I made the harvest and he was so proud of me. He taught me to face my fears. For that I will always be grateful. You will be missed. Rest in peace my friend.

I only have happy memories of my Uncle Daryl. I remember him laughing, teasing, joking around. I remember thinking he looked so much like my Grandpa Walter. One time, during a family visit while I was very young, I remember sitting on my Granny's floor, Uncle Daryl was on the couch, he said, "Hey Gina, look at this." I stared up at him, and he popped his false teeth down and back up again. I stared, jaw dropped, in amazement. I thought it was some kind of trick, everyone else laughed. I think I even asked how he did it, and "can you show me how to do that?"

I will always remember him smiling and laughing. Love you all family! Praying for God's comfort during this time of heart ache.

My condolences to the family out there.
Although we've lost him, the memories we've shared with him will live in our hearts hopefully as happy days.
Now is the time to mourn, but be happy with the lives you've shared. Because the love you gave is not lost.
A memory is a moment in time in which good or bad times are saved in our thoughts. Whether Daryl is a good memory or bad, he is remembered, not forgotten, and that means that in some way he and all others have changed the lives of countless.
