To Mavis' family:

I worked at the high school during the time your mom worked there. She was a noble, true friend with a fabulous sense of wit and humor as well someone who took a great deal of pride in her work. She was a responsible person.

My wife, Sharon, had surgery in Minot on Tuesday. I picked up the Minot Daily that evening and learned of your mom's funeral scheduled for earlier that day. Had the situation been different, I would have attended the funeral.

Our sympathy to you and your families.

I was devastated to see Mavis obituary in the Journal. She was my best friend growing up and our Mothers were best friends. I just played an online game with her last week! We had such fun on the farm....so many memories....and I stayed with her one summer when we were teens. I saw her in 2007 and I will definitely miss her. My condolences to the family.

Mrs. Gjovig sounds like a wonderful person. She seems to have loved young people, as do I. She will surely be missed by many. I hope you can find comfort in the promise from God to resurrect our loved ones to life here on a paradise earth. There she will have many more opportunities to make a difference in some young lives. I just recently heard of Mavis's passing. She will be missed. I always remember her smile in the halls of Divide County HS, and that she was a hard worker. Thanks for taking care of us! Rest easy.
