Maxine K Gullickson, 95, of Sparks, NV formerly of Watford City, ND, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Morningstar Senior Living in Sparks, NV.
Maxine was born on April 21, 1921 in Shafer, ND to Lawrence and Lydia (Remele) McMaster. She lived on a farm 2 ½ miles from Watford City until she was 6, then moved into town and grew up working in her father’s Red Owl Store. She loved school, was an honor student, and math was her favorite subject. Her stated goal was to be the best in everything she did.
She and Mel Gullickson, from Rawson, ND, met in 1940 and they were married May 15, 1943 in Miami while Mel was serving in the Navy during WWII.
Maxine retired from the US Bureau of Mines in Reno, NV. She and Mel then travelled extensively and she continued to perfect her skills at Bridge. They moved into Morningstar Senior Living in July 2012. Mel passed away in January 2013 on his 91st birthday.
She leaves behind son Larry Gullickson (Colleen) of Idaho; daughter Carol Arp (Drew) of Washington and grandchildren Ryan and Megan Arp.
She was preceded in death by brothers Don and Jack, and sisters Vi and Gladys.
