Daryl Wayne Buxbaum
January 29, 1951 - February 22, 2017

Place of Birth: Sidney, Montana
Residence: Sidney, Montana
Age: 66

Daryl Wayne Buxbaum was born on January 29, 1951 to Walter and Gilda (Mork) Buxbaum. He was raised in Enid, MT until 1965 and then attended Sidney High School where he graduated in 1969. Daryl married Connie Olson of Vida, MT on September 18, 1976. They had two children, Scott Wyatt and Shaelee Crystal. Daryl loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Daryl and Scott enjoyed farming and ranching together. Daryl and Shaelee both loved animals and they liked playing with all the cats and dogs together. Daryl loved visiting with family, friends, and all his nieces and nephews. His children and grandchildren (Jaylynn and Laura Buxbaum) were his pride and joy.
Daryl loved Eastern Montana and remained in Sidney for his entire life. He was a hardworking man that wore many hats. Some of those hats included farming, ranching, trucking, and being a member of the Rau School Board for 9 years. His passion in life was working along side Walter and Scott on the family farm and ranch that he loved for 40+ years. Daryl raised cattle and always enjoyed branding with many friends and family. Daryl also grew sugar beets, corn, wheat, barley, and alfalfa hay. Later in his life, Daryl worked as a truck driver hauling water for Paraffin Oil Service, Mitchell’s Oilfield Service, and Hi-Line Trucking for 16 years. He loved mornings and would dive into work with a smile on his face.
Daryl adopted a rotational grazing system on the ranch in 1992 and entered into a Conservation Easement on the ranch in 1998. He chose these practices because he wanted the ranch to be preserved. Daryl and his family enjoyed the peacefulness and beauty of the ranch. Daryl always said “I live in God’s country.”
Daryl loved all kinds of music and would even sing in the pickup from time to time while driving into town. One of his favorite songs was “Ramblin Man” by the Allman Brothers. Daryl also loved all types of motorcycles. He took pleasure riding on quiet Montana highways and "rambling" over the rolling hills of the ranch.
Daryl had a great laugh that will be dearly missed. It was one of those happy laughs that would make anyone laugh along with him when they heard it. Daryl had a big heart and took pride in helping others. People could always rely on him to be there with a helping hand or the perfect tool to fix the problem. He will always be remembered by friends and family especially all his nieces and nephews for being playful and having fun.
Daryl Wayne Buxbaum, 66, hung up his hat on February 21, 2017 due to natural causes at his home SE of Sidney.
Daryl is survived by: his son, Scott (Jodie) Buxbaum, Ronan, MT and two granddaughters Jaylynn and Laura; his daughter Shaelee (Tyler) Pittenger, Denver, CO; his mother, Gilda Buxbaum, Sidney MT; sisters, Vickie (Lars) Borg, Sidney, MT, Melody (Kirk) Wambach, Cartwright, ND; many nieces and nephews; a host of cousins and other relatives; and his former wife of 37 years Connie Buxbaum.
Daryl is preceded in death by his father, Walter Buxbaum and his sister Alletta Seibold.

I had the privilege of spending time with my uncle Daryl when my family would visit Sidney when I was very young. I have wonderful memories of him taking me on motorcycle rides, letting me drive my first tractor and my first four-wheeler. Any time I appeared bored or felt out of place when we'd visit, he would take notice and come over to talk to me. He'd offer to do something fun with me, trying to cheer me up and help me feel valued and at home. His kind and gentle heart is something I will always remember. I'll miss him greatly.

I worked for Daryl back in 1993. I learned to drive a beet truck with no brakes to teach me to shift and rely on my gears, not the brake. I was scared to death and he just laughed and said "you'll get it..keep practicing". I made the harvest and he was so proud of me. He taught me to face my fears. For that I will always be grateful. You will be missed. Rest in peace my friend.

I only have happy memories of my Uncle Daryl. I remember him laughing, teasing, joking around. I remember thinking he looked so much like my Grandpa Walter. One time, during a family visit while I was very young, I remember sitting on my Granny's floor, Uncle Daryl was on the couch, he said, "Hey Gina, look at this." I stared up at him, and he popped his false teeth down and back up again. I stared, jaw dropped, in amazement. I thought it was some kind of trick, everyone else laughed. I think I even asked how he did it, and "can you show me how to do that?"

I will always remember him smiling and laughing. Love you all family! Praying for God's comfort during this time of heart ache.

My condolences to the family out there.
Although we've lost him, the memories we've shared with him will live in our hearts hopefully as happy days.
Now is the time to mourn, but be happy with the lives you've shared. Because the love you gave is not lost.
A memory is a moment in time in which good or bad times are saved in our thoughts. Whether Daryl is a good memory or bad, he is remembered, not forgotten, and that means that in some way he and all others have changed the lives of countless.
