Larry Dean Valnes
March 21, 1941 - April 16, 2017

Place of Birth: Sisseton, SD
Residence: SIdney, Montana
Age: 76

Larry Dean Valnes was born on March 21, 1941, in Sisseton, SD to Samuel and Evelyn (Skogen) Valnes. At the age of 3, he moved to Fairview Montana where he attended Fairview School. It was there he met the love of his life, Dorothy Propp. The two were united in marriage on June 11, 1960, from this union they had 5 children, Kevin, Lynnette, Dennis, Tamara and Melissa.
Larry was a hardworking man who enjoyed his trucking business, along with many oilfield and farming jobs. After work Larry could be found down at Sundheim Park visiting or harassing fellow workers, friends and the occasional stranger. If not at Sundheim Park, he would be driving around listening to George Jones with a cooler in hand.
Larry had a personality that shined. If he knew you well you could be certain he would have a nickname for you. He enjoyed barbecuing with family, conversations with his many friends and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Larry died on Sunday, April 16, 2017, at the Sidney Health Center Extended Care, Sidney, MT.
The thing Larry cherished the most was his family: his wife, Dorothy Valnes, Fairview, MT; his daughters, Lynnette Karst, Sidney, MT, Tamara Valnes, Sidney, MT, Melissa (Chad) Quilling, Sidney, MT; his sons, Dennis Valnes, Fargo, ND, Kevin Valnes, Gillette, WY; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; his “adopted daughters”, Michelle Sharbono Jensen, Fairview, MT and Jennifer Gifford Wersland, Laurel, MT.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, his brother-Ernie Valnes, his sister-Joyce Johnson, and his beloved dog-Spike.

Dorothy and family, sorry for your loss. Larry always had a look in his eye when he kiddingly accused me of stealing one of his beers. I think Larry is having a good laugh now and drinking all those beers that he said I took. Larry was a special man, he will be missed.
