Mary Helen Arneson, passed away on May 16, 2017 at the Roosevelt Memorial Nursing Home in Culbertson, MT
Mary Helen was born in Sidney, MT to George and Junia (Cole) Daniels on November 22, 1921. She attended the East Lone Butte School and high school in Sidney. She was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Arneson on December 12, 1942. Bob and Mary moved to the Lambert area so she could teach school. After a short time, they moved to Mary’s family homestead in the Girard Community where they made their home. The couple had three children Clarice, Diana, and Robert Jr.
She was a homemaker, devoted wife and mother; and was active in various community organizations over the years. She enjoyed working in her garden, baking and sewing. Mary also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She often mentioned how important family was to her father, a sentiment she carried on. She also took pride in the fact that the land her dad homesteaded in 1908 was her home for the majority of her life and is still in the family to this day.
Mary Helen is survived by: her daughter-in-law, Norine Roller Arneson; her grandchildren, Julie Lewis, Lorna Johnstone, Benjamin Arneson, Kimberly Hustad, Kenneth (Pamela) Arneson, Alex (Jessica) Arneson, and Charlee Johnstone; 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Mary Helen is preceded in death by her parents George and Junia Daniels, her husband of 66 years Robert Arneson Sr, her son Robert Arneson Jr, her daughter Diana Engen, and her daughter Clarice Johnstone.
