Janette Claire Parrish, age 73 of Watford City, North Dakota, went to be with the Lord in the evening of August 11, 2017, in the presence of her husband, her three children, three of her grandchildren, and her sister Judy (with her husband and one daughter), at Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota, after battling a long-term illness.

Janette was born in Anaconda, Montana, to Arthur and LaVerne (Nichols) Holm on June 19, 1944. She grew up in Galen, Montana, and graduated from Powell County High School in Deer Lodge, Montana, in 1962. She then attended Miltonvale Wesleyan College in Miltonvale, Kansas.

Some of Janette's activities included working as a teacher's aide at Johnson Corners Christian Academy at Johnson Corners as well as working as a receptionist at Fulkerson Funeral Home and assisting with social hours at Good Shepherd Home, both in Watford City.

Janette enjoyed gardening, canning, working crossword puzzles, reading, helping with calving, bottle-feeding calves, driving truck during corn harvest, raking hay, and riding horse. She was a great cook and enjoyed it, feeding hired hands for working cows and roundups, serving one to fifty and often on short notice.

Janette loved her family greatly, and she faithfully sent birthday cards to each one unless she was ill. She was known for her wit, generosity, and fortitude.

Janette is preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Elijah Hanauer.

Janette is survived by her husband of 38 years, Calvin Parrish; her three daughters, Julie (Trennepohl) Hanauer, Kelly (Trennepohl) Ewusi, and Nicole Parrish; eleven siblings, Judy (Holm) Lucas, Jerry Holm, Diana (Holm) Cozby, Thomas Holm, Cheryl (Holm) Cooper, Shelly (Holm) Kessler, Alfred Holm, Jeanine (Holm) Wilson, Celinda (Holm) Melton, Melissa (Holm) Jordan, and Kristin (Holm) Long; four grandchildren, Noah, Isaiah, Salome and Elisha Hanauer; and an aunt, Joy (Nichols) Wessel.
