Linda Kay Monti passed away May 10th, 2018 at the Sidney Health Center surrounded by her husband Matthew, sister Lori, and niece Echo. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Linda Kay was born July 16, 1950 to Albert and Ione (Brieby) DeMangelaere, they later divorced. Linda grew up in the Whitetail Scobey area. In the late 50’s Linda moved to the Malta area with her mother. She attended school in Malta. In 1959 her mother married Frank French. In 1968 Linda married Mark Duvall to this union three children were born, Valorie, Evert and Duane. They made their home in Idaho and Washington, divorcing in 1977. In 1983 Linda married Matthew Monti, her friend and soul mate. Together they raised one son, Jeremy. Matthew became “Pops” to Linda’s other children, treating them as his own.
Linda was an avid crafter and artist, evident in all the wonderful projects she did. Interior decorating was a passion of hers.
Being a hair dresser was a dream Linda had her whole life. In 1994 that dream became a reality. She graduated from Dahl’s Beauty School and opened her first shop, Paddywacks in Great Falls. She also had a shop in Malta for a while. Due to health reasons she retired from hairdressing.
Linda enjoyed traveling to the many places Matthew was stationed. Most recently they spent three years in Georgia. Linda enjoyed the shopping and the history. She also loved the ocean and fishing with Matthew. Returning to Montana and her little farm was a Godsend for her. Linda loved to garden and work in her yard. Failing health slowed her but didn’t stop her. Linda was very diligent and persevered through tough times. Her faith in God was unwavering. She nursed Matthew through extremely difficult times, never giving up. There was so much more to Linda’s life. She loved God, family and country.
Linda is survived by her husband, Matthew; sons, Jeremy (Michele), Duane (Trish); daughter, Valorie; brothers, Dan (Marian), Doug (Stacy) Hoot; sister, Lori (Frank); grandchildren, Cyiarra, Michael, Riley and Jasmine; and one great grandson, Landon.
