I've worked at the NWS Glasgow office for 17 years, and met Gary at the first Skywarn talk I gave in Sidney. He was a reliable, steady weather spotter for, and if you heard his voice speed up or get a little excitable, you knew you had a significant storm happening, as he wasn't one to exaggerate at all. He always called us when he got heavy rain, hail, damaging winds, or snowfall, and he kept the calls short and sweet. Our entire staff would agree that Gary was one of our favorite callers into the office. We send our condolences to his family, and we'll greatly miss hearing, "Hi, this is Gary Poff, a weather spotter 7 miles west of Sioux Pass."

We’re so sorry for your loss. Gary leaves behind many fond memories that can brighten your day when you’re thinking of him. As we look forward to the time when we’re reunited again with our loved ones, think about what you’d like to say and how big the hugs will be. My family loves reading about this hope at jw dot org. May the God of comfort bless and guide your whole family now and in the future.
