Arnold “Cliff” Clifford Berg was born November 7, 1919 near Glenwood, MN to parents Albert and Helga (Austad) Berg. He had three half-brothers and was the oldest of the four Berg children.
At a young age he entered the Minnesota State Orphanage. At times he’d be taken out to work on area farms. At the age of eighteen he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp. (C.C.C.’s) and worked in northern Minnesota. He then went to Sidney, MT to find his family. With World War II, he joined the army and was in battles in Europe.
Returning to Sidney he began working at Holly Sugar Factory, being the longest time campaign worker. Also being a carpenter from spring to fall he would build houses; including his own in 1959.
Cliff married Darlene Jacobson in 1948 and became parents to a daughter and two sons. They liked to travel to visit relatives and then to army reunions. He was interested in old cars.
Cliff died on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the Sidney Health Center in Sidney, MT.
Cliff is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Darlene, Sidney, MT; daughter, Helen Ann Litzsinger, Billings, MT; son, Brian (Peggy) Berg, Billings, MT; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and friend and neighbor to Terry Simonsen.
