Michael Jepsen was born on September 1, 1961 to parents Poul and Gudrun (Hansen) Jepsen at their home in Taars, Denmark. He was the oldest of four children and attended school in Taars, Gymnastikhøjskolen in Viborg, and Kalø Agricultural College. After receiving his education, he joined the Royal Danish Army where he was a guardsman for the queen of Denmark. Michael always bragged about being the best-looking soldier in the Danish army. He never forgot his Danish heritage and made sure his family carried on many of the Danish traditions.
Michael’s life was filled with adventure. He traveled to Israel where he volunteered in a kibbutz, New Zealand, Canada, England, and Australia where he worked in agricultural programs. In 1987 he made his way to the United States and began working at Jonsson Farms near Savage, Montana. It was here in Montana that Michael put down his roots. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Sandra Boldt August 31, 1991. To this union two daughters were born, Hanna and Clara.
After farming he worked at Craig’s Meat Processing before beginning his current position blading roads for Richland County. He was very conscientious about keeping the roads open and ready for travel.
Michael loved life in Montana and lived it to the fullest. His passion was hunting and training his German Shorthair Pointers for NSTRA trials and NAVDA hunt tests. Through these organizations he made many lifelong friends. We always enjoyed listening to his stories following these trials and will be forever grateful for the valuable friendships he made.
He was active in his community as a member of First Lutheran Church, a 4-H leader, member of the Savage Inc. Board which was instrumental in the development of Sunrise Manor in Savage and supporting his daughters in their school activities.
Michael passed away August 18, 2018 at the family home after battling cancer. He touched the lives of many during his time on Earth. He had strength of character, unending kindness, and a great sense of humor. He will be missed by all who called him friend.
Michael is survived by his: wife Sandra, daughters Hanna and Clara all of Savage; parents Poul and Gudrun Jepsen; brothers Bjørn (Karen Søndergaard) Jepsen; Martin (Rikke Meisner) Jepsen; and sister Henriette (Bjarne) Ebbesen and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ernst and Anna Jepsen, Axel and Johanne Hansen, and aunts Inger Hansen and Inger Nielsen.
