It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
James "Jim" Bruce Dishon
October 30, 1953 - November 23, 2018

Place of Birth: Sidney, Montana
Residence: Mesquite, Nevada formerly of Sidney, MT
Age: 65

James “Jim” Bruce Dishon went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 23, 2018. Jim passed away doing what he loved near Mesquite, Nevada with his son, Trevor and wife, Donna by his side.
Jim was born in Sidney, MT on October 30, 1953 to Dean and Cynthia (Ross) Dishon. Jim was the third of 4 children. He was raised and graduated from high school in Sidney, MT. It was here that he met his high school sweetheart, Donna Olson, and they were married on June 16, 1971.
As a child, Jim, his father, and his brother Dick would hunt every year when they were younger and much to the chagrin of his mother, and sisters Deb and Cindy, would always bring home some venison. Jim’s elk sausage was the best and always in demand, which fortunately he supplied often after many successful hunts. He also loved spending time with his family and cousins nearly every weekend in Buford, ND.
Jim was already working full time jobs starting at the age of 11. He was a ranch hand one summer and then worked at Quilling’s Market as a butcher in the meat department throughout most of his high school years. After graduation he went to meat cutting school and became a butcher working in supermarkets in Glasgow and then Billings, MT before returning to Sidney to work for MDU.
Jim and Donna welcomed their only son, Trevor James, into the world. Jim’s greatest joy was spending time with his son. Jim was a big supporter of Trevor’s high school athletics including wrestling and football for the Sidney Eagles. Jim, Donna and Trevor enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, canoeing, and hunting together. Jim and Donna especially loved Trevor’s many friends and treated them like their own.
Jim was a member of the Elks Lodge for 31 years and trustee for 11 years, a member of the Moose Lodge, People’s Congregational Church, Sidney Country Club, and the Rotary Club in Rapid City, SD.
Jim worked for Montana Dakota Utilities for 40 years. He worked at the Lewis and Clark Station in Sidney for 23 years. Jim was a coalman when he started working for MDU. He also served as the local collective bargaining unit steward as well as mechanic, certified mechanic welder, fuel and grounds supervisor, as well as many other positions. Jim worked as a member of the negotiating committee for MDU where he worked on contracts and arbitration. He transferred to Bismarck, ND where he was promoted to the Human Resources Manager in 1996. In 2005, Jim became the Regional Director of the Black Hills and moved to Rapid City, SD. Jim was a distinguished and dedicated employee to MDU and was recognized for his 40 years of service on October 30, 2013 when he retired.
Jim and Donna retired to Meridian, ID and then to Mesquite, NV in July of 2016 where they could be closer to their son, Trevor and his family. Jim especially loved his grandson, Cody, and his granddaughters, Tylee and Tatym.
Jim is survived by: his wife, Donna of Mesquite, NV; his son, Trevor (Michelle) of Las Vegas, NV; his three grandchildren that he adored; Cody Dishon (Twyla) of Minot, ND, Tylee Dishon and Tatym Dishon of Las Vegas, NV; two great grandchildren, Owen and Aubri Dishon; his sisters, Debbie Dahl of Fairview, MT, Cindy (Mark) Rosellini of Grove, OK; his brother, Richard (Vikki) Dishon of Sidney, MT; his nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces.
Jim is preceded in death by: his parents, Dean and Cynthia Dishon; and brother-in-law, Mike Dahl.

What a wonderful life! Jim lived every moment with passion and enthusiasm. Hardly a day went by that Jim didn’t comment on the pride he felt for his son and the love and support of his “lovey bride.”

Our thoughts are with you Donna.

So sorry for your loss Donna, Trevor, and family. Jim was such a kind, humble, and fun man that loved his family. Even when he acted tough we knew he was soft hearted. We’re so happy we became friends with you guys and enjoyed so many golf outings with our group. Jim was always up for anything with our Vegas, Minneapolis, Rapid City and all the small towns in between trips we golfed, gambled, danced, wined and dined and had plenty of beer, stories, and lots of laughs. What I loved most about Jim was how he talked about his humble beginnings and encouraged everyone if you worked hard you could accomplish big things. He was so proud of Trevor and loved taking care of his family, Donna you were his everything. We’ll miss Jim and keep his family in our prayers.
Love, Barbara and Francis Weekes
