Harold Lloyd Westby was born August 9th, 1941 to Arthur and Laura (Skardet) Westby in Powers Lake, N.D. He grew up on the family farm near Lostwood, N.D. He entered the US Army in 1959 and served at Fort Lewis, Washington and in Germany during the Berlin Crisis of 1961. He was honorably discharged in 1962 and returned to North Dakota to work. It was during this time that he found his future bride, Marlene Nelson. They were married on March 3rd, 1963 at First English Free Lutheran Church in Lostwood, N.D.
His greatest passion was serving Jesus Christ, becoming more Christ-like, and being an Overcomer, 1 John 5:4-5.
He was a self taught craftsman and was able to pursue this hobby when he retired. He often joked "there is no need to go south for the winter, I go south to my workshop every day." He enjoyed spending endless hours in his workshop creating custom designed pieces for many people.
He went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 28th, 2018 after a short illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Marlene, their four children: John Westby (Johnna), Brenda Westby (Mark), Janel Borud (Brian), and Kymm Westby, 7 grandchildren: Josh Westby (Katie), Sarah Roses (Boomer), Tanner Borud, Hunter Borud, Conner Borud, Abigail Westby-Helton, and Jordan Jones, and 5 great grandchilden, his four brothers: Delvin, Arlow, Marlow, Larry and sister Ramona.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ardell.
