Melissa Baumgart
November 2, 1967 - March 24, 2019

Residence: Williston, North Dakota

Melissa A. “Missy” Scheen-Baumgart, 51, of Williston, ND, died early Sunday morning at her residence. Melissa was born November 2, 1967, in Carrington ND to Linda K. & Edward Scheen.

Melissa attended Magic City Campus School in Minot and received her GED while going to night school. She had a year of studying accounting online at Rasmussen College under her belt, but as Melissa always said she was going to spend some time paying off the first year’s debt before going back to college. But Melissa’s stronger drive to help take care of her family and others drew her down a different path.

Melissa was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, daughter and friend to a wide array of people, from all walks of life. She didn’t care how you looked, what you wore or where you came from; she just opened her heart and hand to everyone she could. If someone she knew needed help, she did all she could to help them. She believed in putting good out into the world and did her best to show her young nieces and nephews that being kind to others was important. A lot of her life was spent working, an area of her life where she was a jack of all trades. Her favorite jobs, however, were being a mother to her two boys as well as being a grandmother to her new grandson, Daryn and an aunt to her young niece, Destiny.

Melissa had a strong work ethic (affectionately referred to as ‘stubbornness’ by those who loved her), a sense of humor, a big heart and she loved spending time with her family, gardening and living life as fully as she could. Her favorite animals were dolphins and cats; she loved wildflowers, roses and carnations. Her favorite color was blue.

She is survived by her eldest son, Micheal James and significant other, as well as her youngest son and his wife Cody and Raven Counts; her father and his wife, Zoda and Anna Morgan; her brothers and their wives, Christ and Victoria Scheen, James and Sandra Scheen and Robert and Debra Scheen; her step-sisters and step-brothers; her grandson, Daryn James; her young niece, Destiny; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Melissa was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Linda K. Morgan and her infant son Kyle (who died very early in life).

Please join her sons & siblings in celebrating her life.
