Kimberlyn A. Getzlaff, 56, of Stanley, ND, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND.

Kimberlyn Annette Getzlaff-Aho (Kim) passed away at Trinity hospital in Minot, ND on Wednesday May 15, 2019 at 7:37pm in the company of her husband.
Kim was born in Rugby, ND on March 28, 1963 to parents Carol Engebrit and Kenneth Getzlaff. She grew up with a large family of eight. As a child, Kim liked to spend time at her grandparents’ farm, along with her siblings. Kim graduated from Rugby High School in 1981, and then went on to attend college for two years.

It was when she had her first child that her true life’s calling was found. She was a wonderful mother to three beautiful children. The truth is she was a mother to anyone who needed it. Kim was the type of person to do anything for anyone, even at the cost of her own suffering. Though her children are now grown, she has remained an active mother in their lives. The job of a Mother truly never ends.

In 2012, Kim reconnected with an old friend, Joe Aho, and their relationship eventually blossomed into marriage in 2013. Kim and Joe have lived together in Stanley, ND ever since; bonding over God, politics and weather. Kim enjoyed tending to her plants. Every year she looked forward to planting a garden and flowers. She was truly at her happiest when surrounded by her family; with a cold Coca-Cola and cheese stick.

Kim is preceded in death by her mother Carol Engebrit, step-father Pete Bachmeier, grandmother LoVilah Engeland, grandfather Bjarne Engeland, and mother-in-law Audrey Jones.

Kim is survived by her husband, Joe Aho; her children, Tyler Getzlaff (Stephanie), Brandon Getzlaff and Desiree Wangrud (Andrew); her grandchildren, Courtney Getzlaff, Aiden Getzlaff, Abel Wiedmer, and Paisley Wiedmer; her step-daughters, Shae Aho (Norman) and Elizabeth Aho; her siblings, Ken Getzlaff, Corinna Schultz, Charlene Axtman, Karol Getzlaff and Shannon Hanson, along with their children and grandchildren, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
