Katie was a very special person, she was an inspiration to everyone who knew her and her mission here on earth was to make the world a better place, which she accomplished. She helped take care of my Dad when she worked at hospice, I don't know what we would have done without her. Thank you all for sharing her with our community. You have a very special Guardian Angel - God Bless each of you - Kim

The whole community will really miss this very special lady. We first met her as organist for our wedding. She also provided music for our church and was organist for our daughter Sacha's wedding. She always had a friendly smile and was wonderful to visit with. Her push for and participation in hospice as well as Camp Mend a Heart were a much needed and appreciated contribution to the community. May your memories comfort you and carry you through this difficult time. So sorry that we will be out of town and miss her service. God bless you and comfort you.

1/23/2013 Joe and Sally McKinley (Sidney, Montana)

Katie was an absolute jewel in helping us in my mother-in-law's last days here. What a lady. Below is an e-mail message from Joe's sister, Janelle.

Thank you for letting me know. All suffering over. She told us that when Mother passed we would feel relieved-----------"But it won't last." She was so right. I thank her so much for her help to us, and pray for blessings of comfort for all who loved her and will miss her presence so much. If you get a chance please tell her family how much we appreciated what she did for us. Janelle

1/23/2013 Synneva, Terry, and Katrina Meldahl

Katie is truly a blessing to many. May God bless you all richly with wonderful memories. With love and prayers.

1/23/2013 Lyle Goss and Laura Goss Moser (Sidney and Glendive, MT)

We are so sorry to hear about Katie's passing. She was a wonderful neighbor and what our parents called "good people." She was such a support for our Dad, Ted, after Mom died and she was the one person who got him to go to grief group. He used to recommend her groups to other men in the community all the time. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. God called his Angel home when Katie left this Earth.

1/24/2013 Julie & Steve Treib (Williston, ND)

Glen,Nancy & family:
May God's loving arms cradle you all as you remember your Mother and Grandma. What a divine inspiration to us all!
Some comforting words from our Lord,

"I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps
my word, he will never see death."
John 8:51

"For this God is our God for ever and ever;
he will be our guide even to the end."
Psalm 48:14

"Jesus said to her,'I am the resurrection
and the life. He who believes in me will
live, even though he dies; and whoever
lives and believes in me will never die'"
John 11:25-26

May peace be with you all.

1/24/2013 Dorothy Paladichuk (Sidney, MT)

When I think of Katie being gone, really gone, it is like "How are we all going to get along without her?" But I heard her say she was so ready to go and be with her Lord and Savior so I know she is now free of pain and has total peace. I can only imagine how her family must feel...this is the lady that could do anything she set her mind to doing. I think of the many photo albums she had made, one for each grandchild, as well as all of her other God-given talents. She was a great friend and I will certainly miss her. My sympathy to Duane and all of her kids and grandkids. God bless you all.

1/24/2013 Tom and Anita Scheetz (Sidney, MT)

Duane and family,

We send love and prayers to you in your time of loss. Katie was a beautiful person and your memories will keep her forever in your hearts.

Dearest Katie's Family,
Words cannot express the huge void Katie leaves in this world. Her loving hands touched so many lives and left her spirit's imprint on each one.

Amy and Walter loved you so much. Now you live with them in a beautiful world, free of all pain. Please give each of them a hug and kiss from us when they greet you in heaven.

With Our Deepest Love and Sympathy,
Candy and Ron

1/24/2013 Sharon Smelser (Sidney, MT)

Katie served her Lord and Savior so very well with her dedication to serving her fellowmen/women. I'm sure she is rejoicing with Jesus and all the saints in Heaven as we rejoice here that she now is HOME enjoying a complete, whole well-being. When Katie sang with Sweet Adelines, she was such a talent in her musical ability as well as in her positive outlook on all things around her. I loved her sense of humor, also. We all in Eastern Montana have been blessed by God's plan to allow Katie to live among us.
To Duane and Family, may the peace wich passes all understanding be yours.

1/24/2013 Ken Bailey (Sidney, MT)

Katie inspired so many. She gave 110% at everything she did. I loved her like a sister and would have been proud to have called her sister. She helped in many ways to understand life and how people really need each other. God has another Angel now and I hope I'm good enough to someday see this sweet lady again. We are diminished.

1/25/2013 Deb & Greg Cavanaugh (Sidney, MT)

I am so saddened by Katie's death but I know I should not be because she was not afraid to die. I loved our conversations when she would come into the office. What a lovely, caring, compassionate and faithful servant she was to everyone. Our hearts go out to her family whom she loved dearly.

1/25/2013 Karen Olson Beenken (Sidney)

1/25/2013 Terry Schilling

I just heard the news and will pray for your family. Your Mom had a beautiful voice and pianist. May the Comforter comfort each one of you.

1/25/2013 Brenda and Quilling Siblings (Tryon, NC)

Katie was a remarkable person, and we were so blessed to have known her. Katie took care of our dear mother, Amy B.Quilling, in hospice care, and was a such a dear friend to her over the years. Amazingly, Katie passed the same day as Amy - January 22nd. I always felt they had a spiritual connection. As I looked at my Daily Word for January 22nd, 2013, the word for the day was so appropriate: Free. "I am free and filled with the power and energy of Spirit." Today was equally prescient: "My soul is at home in God." Katie had such a deep faith in God and goodness, and she personified that in her daily life. Our hearts go out to her family in this time of earthly parting. She will be waiting on the other side of the river, as all of our loved ones will.

1/25/2013 Elaine Berlin (Anacortes, Washington)

Duane and family
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. With sympathy Walter and Velma(pust) Smith and family.

1/25/2013 Barb Johnson (Arnegard, ND)

Duane and Family,
There is so much to write yet no words to that can describe Katie. She was so much more than a friend, spiritual mentor, councelor and soul mate. I turely do not know where I or many others would be had it not been for Katie. She not only opened her heart to so many but opened her home to all who needed a 'safe' place to talk, share and cry. I always knew, day or night, if I picked up the phone she would be there to listen, encourage and comfort. Her legacy will live on through the hundreds of lives she touched. She will always hold a special place in my heart.

Thank you ALL for sharing Katie with me!

1/25/2013 Jason, Lindsey & Roslyn Knapp (Amsterdam, Montana)

I have heard many stories about Duane and Katie from my grandmother (Velma Pust-Smith). I have never had the glory to meet them but have spoken with Duane over the phone while traveling through Sidney a few years back. We are currently planning a trip to bring Velma back to Sidney to rekindle with family. I am so sad to know that she will not be able to see Katie. Our love and prayers go out to surrounding the Pust family with all the lord has to offer.

Dear Pust family,
i'll miss Katie. Her smile was so contageous and her love was always present. i'll miss going to your home for Bible studies. i keep thinking about the service yesterday and am stuck on 2 memories--the video where she gave her testimony and the ladder she mentioned there in. She had so many questions to ask Jesus and His disciples and couldn't wait to be there. that's the hope for all of us. Rest in Peace, Special Lady...

4/8/2013 Tom Weaver (Minneapolis , MN)

I knew Katie as Kathie Walker at Faribault High School. We went to high school together and were in the same homeroom class. I lost touch with her after that...and We reconnected on Facebook a few years ago and I noticed what a loving presence she brought to her community in Sidney MT. We lost touch for many years, and interesting her mission work as a nurse led her to "Cedarville College, Cedarville, OH for two years, majoring in science. She transferred to Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN." My Weaver ancestors are from that part of the world and helped establish a Lutheran community around 1807 in Ellerton- Miamisburg area, in the Greater Miami River Valley area, where my father was born and raised. He practiced medicine in Faribault MN for 37 years and interned at Swedish Hospital where Kathie (Then called Katie) at the same building that influenced my father in 1938, before moving to Faribault. I have written about his life on my blog.
I was hoping to re connect with Kathie for our upcoming reunion of our 1965 Class as our 50th Reunion will be happening in 2015. Rest in Peace Kathie...AKA Katie.
FYI - my blog on my father at Swedish Hospital
