I first met Stan Wright when I was 9 years old, and my sister & I crashed my bike by his driveway. Stan came out to see if we were okay. He picked up my bike and fixed it, and then walked us home, to make sure we were okay. I will never forget his kindness that day. When I was young, I thought that it was so cool that the mayor of Stanley shared the same name.
Stan was a true pillar of our community. He always had a cheerful hello for everyone. I will think of him everytime I hear the song, "God Bless America. His legacy will live on in this community, and his beautiful family will always have treasured memories of a true icon. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing Stan Wright.
Hugs to you, Cheri, Joey, & Pam from the Hollingers

When I think of Stan Wright I will always remember his heartfelt "Hello, how are you doing" with a handshake!! He was a good friend to my parents, Rose and Olav and even had stories about my Aunts Signe and Anna that he enjoyed sharing with me. His dedication and love of his community and country was a true description of the man he was. It's so sad to see that generation leave us. I hope he is entertaining everyone in Heaven with his beautiful voice and the trombone!!

Stan will always be a special part of our family. He was the most warm and tender man, so wise and supportive. He brought joy to our lives. We will miss him terribly. He gave himself to all of us, so generously and lovingly. We will never forget Stan playing “Taps” at our father’s funeral. Heroes come in all sorts of packages. Thank you, Stan, for being in our lives.

Such a great community servant. I saw him often at the Nursing home in Stanley during the 7 years my Dad was their. Grateful he and my mother could encourage each other during those years as they visited their respective spouses. And I’m thankful he kept Amtrak stopping in Stanley so I could ride it there one night and back the next to visit my Dad as I was a law student back then and it allowed me many more visits than if I would have had to drive. Hugs for all of you girls and your families. My very deepest sympathies.

I met Stan as a young salesman for a Canadian Farm equipment Manufacturer in 1973, at his business firm in the city of Stanley. We developed a long and mutually beneficial relationship for nearly 50 years. Dealing with him at Stanley Equipment, later as mayor of Stanley and finally as a Mountrail County Commissioner. We had many hot fudge sundaes at the Dakota drug soda fountain, He was a wonderful, unforgettable man. I feel very fortunate to have known him
