My sincere condolences to the family. It was always a pleasure talking with John, as we shared talking about experiences in Great Falls in our youth. John & Marilyn raised their children in similar expectations as I raised mine. Rest in peace, servant of God.

Marilyn and family,
It was with a great deal of sorrow that we learned of John's passing. When they said he was Montana's "cheerleader," there can not be a truer statement. We were truly blessed to know this amazing gentleman. Losing him will leave a huge vacancy in so many of our hearts. He was kind, dedicated, forgiving, talented, smart, hard-working, driven and generous. Some have a few of those traits; John had them all and so many more. Our times with all of you will never be forgotten. John's legacy will only grow over time. In the meantime, you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Please know that we are all better people because of John. He was a pure gem of a person!

Marilyn, Karen and Randy -
I'm so sorry that John is no longer with us, but I'm also glad that he's peacefully moved on. I read the obit and thought to myself, that man was a LION. Not only did he have a heart of a lion he roared like one. His upbeat and warm energy filled the room; I always felt it! Fitting that he's a Leo ;) I will never forget his moving speech at my father's funeral. I still have a copy of the speech.
I wish I could be there at his service. Sending hugs to each of you! Love, Marla

I am so sorry to hear this about your dad. He definitely was such a pioneer and cheerleader for this community and other communities in the State of Montana. One of the first people I met when coming to Sidney. May all his memories make happy moments in your lives. Sending you all God's blessings, love and hugs.

Marilyn, Karen, Randy and families,
We are so saddened to hear of John's passing. What a wonderful man! I can hear the thunder and know he is laughing with his fellow Pepsi friends in Heaven. We are so blessed to have known him and to see that Karen and Randy have inherited so many of his wonderful traits. The obituary was spot on with noting a life well-lived. He was a great leader but more importantly he was a great man and friend. In honor of John, "Go Griz". Shirley, Lynn, Fred and family

We absolutely loved Mr. Olson when he taught at Hysham High School. We gave him a hard time, but he would smile and assign us a 1,000 word essay on some obscure topic. My class, the class of '64, under his guidance, researched and rewrote the school constitution. He made a huge difference for all of us. I will remember him with a smile.
