Oh my goodness, I was shocked to see this obit for James. I had no idea things had taken a turn for the worse. I worked at the MDU Lewis and Clark Station and saw James periodically at work and MDU meetings and functions. He was always a gentleman and will surely be missed by all who knew him. Melissa and families you will be in our thoughts and prayers. Our deepest sympathies go out to you all.

James truly handled his fight with dignity and grace. He was always kind, positive and tried to smile through it all. I met James on his fight and was amazed by him. All the nurses loved to take care of him and felt so bad for him. What a great obituary for such a great man. May he rest in peace and do all the things in heaven as he watches over all his loved ones!

My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family. From childhood to adulthood I will miss James’ devilish smile that signaled a zinger about to be thrown! Go rest high, cousin, your work here is done!

I am so sorry for your loss, Melissa family. He truly was “gentleeman”. Always a smile on his face and never complained about anything. I feel privileged that I was able to know him through his cancer journey. He faced it head on and with so much dignity. I will cherish our friendship. What a beautiful tribute. You really said it all. My deepest sympathy to you all. Prayers Judy

Our visit to Montana in November 2021
It is rare to cross paths with many people that are as great as James. From the very first time we met him, he welcomed all of my family with such open arms. His generosity, his kindness, his humongous heart and that smile. The day he walked into Melissa's life and the lives of my nephews - Flirt, Joshie and my niece Jordan was nothing short of an absolute blessing. We will forever be thankful the love and the life that provided for them. There is a family here in Colorado whose hearts are broken for our family in Montana. We love you all so much and please know our thoughts and prayers are with you each and every day. Heaven was definitely given another angel on July 6th. All our love - The Lechuga, Romero and Davis family

I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of James. I am a scheduler at MDU and worked with him for many years. Waking him up in the middle of the night and of course during the day. He was always pleasant to work with. Sending prayers to the family and friends. We will miss him.
