Charles Dwight Boyer was born on July 7, 1944 to Francis and Rose (Sticka) Boyer in Sidney, MT. His youth was spent in Savage, MT on the Lalonde Ranch. He loved the life of a country boy and often reminisced about the animals, hard work, and the occasional accidents. He loved this life and it was a great foundation for the appreciation of work ethic and the simple things in life. He was an altar boy and talked of mass being in Latin only.
He moved to Sidney with his family in the spring of his junior year of high school. He completed his GED and got his diploma with the class of 1963. He then enlisted in the National Guard along with his brother Jim. While he attended school in Sidney he met Patti Price. They were married in 1965 and made their home in Sidney. They had three children. He married Mavis Salsbury in 1999 in which he gained three more children.
Charles worked at Holly Sugar, which was a family tradition. He also had experienced the oil boom of the late 70’s early 80’s with NOB Drilling. He then worked for Texaco and a variety of other companies driving truck. He later was a mechanic for a couple companies which eventually led him to Sidney Red-E-Mix where he was looking forward to returning to when he was able.
In December 2013 he was diagnosed with cancer. He fought the fight beyond what was expected. He turned a 6-9 month expectancy in to 2 and a half years. Charles did not want to ever be dependent on others but was surrounded by the most amazing support of friends, providers, and his family. He was admired by so many for his fairness, attention to detail, driven demeanor, and even how gentle yet strong he was. He also loved to be a jokester and label people with nick names. He was a member of the Elks and Moose, ABATE, and willing to help out where ever needed.
Charles rekindled his love of riding motorcycle and driving a jeep. He made many friends on the road with work, motorcycle trips, and even sporting events of his children and grandchildren. Of all of these his greatest pride and joy was his grandchildren. He couldn’t wait to support them in all that they were involved in.
