Sharon Alexander, 77, of Epping, ND, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 13, 2017 at the Trinity Medical Center in Minot, ND, surrounded by her loved ones. Her funeral arrangements are with Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home of Williston.
Sharon was born March 11, 1940, to Clifford and Signe (Ostby) Enget in Powers Lake ND. Sharon and her family lived on a farm southwest of Powers Lake, where they raised cattle, horses and small grains. Sharon attended Bethel Baptist Church in Powers Lake, where she was baptized and confirmed as a child.
Sharon attended Powers Lake Public School and graduated in 1958. She then attended Minot State College until moving to Williston, ND in 1960. Sharon met David Alexander upon moving to Williston and they were married on September 15, 1962. They resided in Williston until 1965, upon then Sharon, David and family moved to the Alexander Family farm, where she has resided for the past 52 years. There were three children born to this union; Michael, Michelle (Shelly) and Melissa (Missy). The family raised cattle, horses and farmed small grains.
Sharon was very involved in her children's extracurricular activities and attended most, if not all of her children's basketball games and other school events.
Sharon served her community by participating in many boards and organizations. She was involved with the Epping Lutheran Church, Buffalo Trails Museum and Cowbelles of North Dakota at various points in her life. Sharon was also Buffalo Trails Day's first Parade Queen and was to serve as the Grand Marshall for this year's Buffalo Trail's Day Parade.
Sharon was very involved in the farm work and animals that every farm wife gets to enjoy. She could be found feeding cows, hauling hay, moving cattle, feeding the help and riding the horses. She often spent about as much time out of the saddle and in the saddle due to some of the horses that she rode. Needless to say, she always had her way of dealing with those matters in her own fashion. Sharon's deep abiding faith helped her through many medical issues and left many in awe of her strength and unfailing faith.
Sharon was known for her wonderful homemade buns, knitted sweaters, and baby afghans and quilts she made for nieces, nephews and local children. Sharon touched many lives and made many friends who in kind enhanced her life, the phone at home was always ringing for her.
Sharon is survived by her three children, Michael, Michelle and Melissa (Miguel) Irizarry, her granddaughter Malia Arreola, her brother Leon Enget(Eloise), sister Peggy Schmitz (Mike) and various others nieces and nephews from the Alexander and Enget families.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband David, her parents Clifford and Signe and her brother, Allen (Allie) Enget.
