Gerhard (Gary) Alfred Huebner
April 1, 1929 - September 3, 2017

Place of Birth: Mseno, Czech Republic
Residence: Williston, North Dakota
Age: 88

Gerhard (Gary) Huebner, 88 of Williston, passed away peacefully September 3, 2017 surrounded by his family at Bethel Lutheran Home after a brief illness.

Gerhard was born to Hugo and Albertina Huebner on April 1, 1929 in Jablonec, Czechoslovakia. He immigrated to the United States in 1950 to start a new life. He landed in Alexander, ND and began farming in that area. He was joined two years later by his fiancé Margarete (known by Margo to all her friends), who emigrated from Germany and they were married a short time later. Their life together began in a cottonwood, tarpaper shack southwest of Alexander, ND. They eventually moved to a farm near Williston. While raising five children, his long and varied career included farming, working construction at the Grand Forks Air Force Base, foreman at the Hardy Salt plant, owner/operator of Mon-Dak water well drilling company, a seismographer in the Bakken oil fields and winters spent working at a ski area in Montana. He returned many times over his life to working the wheat fields of his property northeast of Williston. His favorite pastimes included sailing on his sailboat that he kept docked at Lake Sakakawea, taking drives in the countryside of northwest North Dakota, listening to music, staying current on world events, astronomy and tinkering with computers. He was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife of 64 years, Margarete (Margo); son, Robert and granddaughter, Jennifer.

He is survived by his children; Richard (Sonia), Rose (Jeff), Roger (Darla) and Ron (Christina); ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; also by his sister, Gerlinde Broadway (Douglas) and numerous nieces and nephews in Germany and Alaska.

Special thanks for the loving care by the nurses and doctors at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND and Bethel Home in Williston.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I had a wonderful visit with your mom and dad at my mom's funeral in 2010. It brought back many great memories of Palmer School and 4-H. It's hard to believe that's 50 years ago! May God give you comfort as only He can.

Hello from New Mexico.
I am so sorry, your Dad will be so missed, just like your Mom.
We kept in touch for so many years and I feel such an emptiness in my Heart, but at least your Parents are together now and no more pain.
You are in my thoughts and prayers, Your Parents were just like Family for me. I have wonderful Memories and will keep them in my heart until we meet again.
Love Barbara and Family.

Huebner Family,
Sorry to hear of Gary passing,I was a neighbor of Gary in Williston. He moved before I did but I will always be grateful that he sold me five acres of his land so I could square up my property. He was a stern man but fair. I always enjoyed visiting with him. We had many visits about skiing and farming. He was an interesting person and I learned from him. My condolences. RIP my Friend.

To Gary's Family,
We were very sorry to hear about your father's passing. Your mom and dad were such good friends to Vic and Bernadine Torgerson, Russ' parents, and we appreciate all they did for them, not just in Williston, but also for all the visiting they did when the four of them lived in Billings. My parents from Regina, SK also got to know your parents, and we all enjoyed coffee time together. My father was from Germany like your mom, and my mother from Czechoslovakia like your father. I miss your parents, they were such a special couple! with our deepest sympathy, Renny & Russ Torgerson
