Dorothy, as she prefered to be called was born April 7,1927 to William (Bill) and Edna (Ator) Tlustosch at McCleary Washington.
Her mother passed away when she was 18 months old. Bill married Mary Ehry. Mary became a loving Mother to Dorothy and her sisters Lillian Mae and Jeanne Lucy. Mary and Bill added Frank and Evelyn to the family to make it complete. They grew up in the Dagmar- Coalridge area. Dorothy loved school and it came easy to her but Bill didn't feel girls needed to further their education past the 8th grade. When she was 18 she moved to Culbertson and worked at the Hotel Cafe. She married Willie Krueger October 16,1946 after he returned from the service. Together they had Glenn, Joyce, Steven and Lori. Even though she was unable to further her education she never stopped learning. Mom would read the dictionary like it was a game. She would read a word then look up a word that was used to describe the word she had just read. She enjoyed the simple things in life, gardening, flowers, crossword puzzles, scrabble and writting poetry. Her mind and body were always busy. She was basically a shy person but had a sense of humor not eveyone understood. She was not afraid to step up and do what needed to be done to help the family and others. She worked many years as a waitress, sat with the ill,the handicapped and many who were dying so they would not have to be alone.
Her best times were when her and the love of her life were doing things together... when younger they would play horseshoes after supper. Once the kids were grown they started going South in the winter until Dad's health made it impossible. They loved to dance.Often the dance floor would clear as people stopped to watch them waltz to 'their song' The Blue Skirt Waltz.
After the love of her life passed away she became a homebody. She said her house was filled with the love and memories of 'her Willie'. She put herself into the nursing home after her 90th birthday as she didn't want to have to move in with anyone and be a 'bother'.She could not of made it on her own that long without the devotion, love and care she recieved from her 'other kids' Raedelle and Alan Aspenlieder. Our gratitude goes beyond words to them and the others who checked on her, brought her food and laughter.
She has been waiting for many years to be with Dad again. She got her wish June 19,2018 at the nursing home in Culbertson after hip surgery in Billings. Her daughter Lori at her side.
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Sig Rudie) Fairview, MT and Lori (Darvel Meckle) Crosby, ND; sisters, Lillian Webster, Great Falls MT, Evelyn (LaVerne) Wagner Wolf Point, MT; daughter-in-laws; Jean and Martha; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Bill, Edna and Mary; husband Willie; sons Glenn and Steven; Sister Jeanne, brother Frank; brother-in-laws; Nonnie Johnson and Wayne Webster, several nephews, a great grand daughter other extended family.
