The Life of Alvin Dale Houle
Alvin was born March 3, 1956 in Minot, ND to Violet Burr and Edward Houle. He was a member of the Prairie Chicken Clan on his Mother’s side.
Alvin grew up in the Mandaree area until his Mother’s death when he then moved to the Bottineau area with his dad attending Boarding Schools and graduating from Flandreau Indian School in 1975.
His preferred high school sport was wrestling which he excelled in. After graduating he lived in the New Town area working construction with Eagle’s Nest Construction and other construction companies.
In 1980 Alvin and Sherman Sierra traveled to a pow wow in Poplar, Montana, while there he applied for a job at A&S Industries and ended up working and staying there for the past 38 years. Just this past year Alvin finally wanted to return back to Ft. Berthold and his family. His health was not good and he missed his homelands. His sister Florence arranged for him to come home and took care of him in her home until his passing.
He loved to fish, shoot pool, watch American Pickers and History Channel, and ate hard candy doing all these favorite things. He also followed his favorite NFL football team the Denver Broncos.
He is survived by his children: Liza Lincoln of Twin Buttes and Alvin Jr., Poplar, Mt. Siblings: Florence Burr, Calvin Houle, and Juanita Houle. Aunt: Virginia Rachel Grady, Uncle: Harold Burr.
Proceeding Alvin in death is his mother Violet Burr, Sister Violet, Grandparents: Oscar and Mary Alice Burr, Aunts: Emmaline Burr, Mary Edith Good Bear, Marilyn Ogden, and Christine Burr. Uncles: Newton Burr, Sr, and Willard Burr.
