Yvonne Eleanore Charlotte Olson, age 84 of Minot, ND formerly of Plaza, ND passed away on September 6, 2020.
Yvonne was born on April 1, 1936 to Loyal and Gertie (Wadholm) Hornaday in Van Hook, ND. She was the eldest of 10 children. She was named after her grandmother Charlotte, her great grandmother Jensine, pronounced Yensine, and after her grandmother Ella. She was raised in Parshall, ND and attended a country school up to the 8th grade, and then later obtained her GED.
Yvonne met the love of her life Arnold on September 3, 1954 at a dance in Plaza, ND. They wed on December 11, 1954 at Emanuel Lutheran church in Parshall, ND. The newlyweds lived in Plaza with Arnold’s parents before moving on to Minot, ND and then later to Grand Forks, ND. This is where they began their family. They were blessed with 4 daughters. Kathy, Kyanne, Keri and Kristi. The family lived in various places before settling back in the area where their love began.
In the early years, Yvonne and Arnold worked together as a team. They worked in the meat processing industry, managed a resort in Newtown, ND called “Sanish Bay Recreation Area”. They also owned and operated 2 restaurants (one in Plaza, ND and the other in Parshall, ND). Yvonne eventually began her career at Northrop Gruman Corporation where she worked until retirement.
Yvonne was very competitive by nature and loved playing cards and games with her family and friends. She was known to have the Scrabble dictionary on hand and loved winning every chance she got. Yvonne loved to read, crochet, and do word puzzles. If you ever went to a rummage sale with her, you had better have your running shoes on because she always had to beat you there to find the best treasure.
Yvonne is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Arnold, her daughter Kristi Moe (Larry), Watford City, ND, 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, Fayme Stringer Henry (Glen) and their daughters Nova, Kyanne, Kamdon and Elora, Grand Forks, ND, Kyle Moe (Shannon) and their children Shayden, Kameron and Addison, South Heart, ND, Kacey Trussel and her sons Caleb and Dominick, Plaza, ND, Mia Hunsberger (Matt) and their children Morgan, Nathan and Emmaly, Oslo, MN, Kelli Fyllesvold (Roger) and their children Cambry, Cayson and Carter, Plaza, ND, Jessi Folven and her daughters Avari and Joselynn, Minot, ND, Sadi Cochrane and her son Jerimiah, Minot, ND and Taylor Edwards, Plaza, ND. Sisters, Sharon Hornaday, Portland, OR, Fern Skarphol (Harlan), Ryder, ND, Marsha Peterson, Turtle Lake, ND, Lauren Ruland (Jim), Geneva OH. Brothers, Lynn Hornaday (Mavis), Minot, ND, Forrest Hornaday, Scappoose, OR, and Rick Hornaday (Wanda), Minot, ND. Along with several other nieces and nephews.
Yvonne is proceeded in death by her parents Loyal and Gertie, her 3 angel daughters Kathy Barry, Kyanne Olson and Keri Edwards and by 2 sisters Bonnie Hornaday and Carol Norton.

Arnie and family,
My thoughts and prayers go out to you with the passing of Yvonne. Arnie, you and Yvonne have been a godsend to my mom ,Carol Rostad, up at Edgewood. My god keep you in his loving arms as you as you remember and grieve for Yvonne.
