Dr. Ann M. Haugen, DVM, 38, passed in peace at her home on October 10, 2021 in Milton, Washington. Ann Michelle was born February 21st, 1983, in Watford City to Terry and Pam Watson. She was raised south of Watford City on the family farm and loved helping her dad outside with chores. She loved farm life and knew at a very young age that she wanted to be a veterinarian. Ann was smart, hard-working, and determined to succeed in whatever she set her mind to. Once she knew she wanted to be a veterinarian there was no stopping her. Throughout high school she worked at the local veterinary clinic under veterinarian and mentor R.D. “Doc” Nelson. After graduating from Watford City High School in 2001 with honors she went on to study at North Dakota State University in Fargo. While attending NDSU she married her high school sweetheart, Joe Haugen, in 2003. They later divorced. She excelled at NDSU and graduated with honors in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. Ann then chose to pursue veterinary school at the University of Minnesota and made her family proud when she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree on May 2nd, 2009. After school she moved to Washington where she was a veterinarian for 12 years until her passing. As a veterinarian Ann’s passion and strong work ethic touched hundreds of people and their pets. She poured her life into her career to make this world a better place for people by caring for their companions. Most will remember Ann for her integrity and kind heart. Ann also rescued and personally cared for several dogs throughout her life. Her rescue dog Zim was faithfully by her side when she passed. Ann will be profoundly missed by her family and friends.
Ann is survived by her parents, Terry and Pam Watson of Grassy Butte, ND; sister, Melissa (Ron) Sams and daughter Julia; brother, Kevin Watson and son Bridger; grandmother, Linda Watson; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Woodie L Watson and Clint and Julia Radke; and her aunt Debra L. Radke who she will meet in heaven.
