Jamie Maxine Schunk- Redlightning was born to Jolene Starr and Anthony Schunk on April 12, 1978 in Elmhurst, Illinois. She passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, April 3rd, 2022 in Williston, North Dakota attaining the age of 43 years.

Jamie attended Audubon and Lakeview High School before she transferred to Marty Indian School in South Dakota where she graduated in 1996. After she graduated, she attended the University of Minnesota shortly before she had her first child, Kahtia Amy Redlightning in 1997. She moved around frequently following the birth of her daughter, Jolene Pamela Redlightning in 2002.

Jamie is remembered by her sense of humor and known for her unique laugh. She was very high-spirited and full of life. Her charismatic energy was felt by everyone that knew her.

Thankful for sharing her life are her two daughters, Kahtia Amy Redlightning, (Arnold) of Missouri and Jolene Redlightning of Wagner, South Dakota. Her sister, Toni Rae Schunk of Chicago, Illinois; and brothers, Daniel LaPrairie of Montana and Lawrence Leighton (and children) of Yankton, South Dakota. Jamie is preceded in death by her mother, Jolene Starr; father, Anthony Schunk and nephew, RJ Schunk.
