Tyler Fretland, 32, of Burnsville, MN formerly of Williston, ND, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022 due to injuries sustained in an airplane accident outside of Hermantown, MN.

Tyler James Fretland was born to Tom and Bonnie Fretland on June 7, 1990 in Williston, ND. Tyler was joined by his little sister Brianna 2 years later and from that moment they became best friends.

At a young age Tyler showed interest in flying and had talked about joining the Air Force so he could fly for a living. He enjoyed trips to Amsterdam, Thailand, Panama, Puerto Rico, and numerous locations in the US. He loved spending time outdoors during the summer and would go kayaking and hiking any chance he could.

Tyler had a heart full of love and stayed in touch with many members of his family and friends from all walks of life. He had the ability to put a smile on anyone’s face by his jokes or his silly faces. The moments Tyler shared with every person he met was cherished by him and will continue to be cherished by all.

My deepest sympathy to Tyler's family and friends. Tyler was an amazing young man.

I was a student of Tyler's, and he did my checkout flights for two different aircraft. He was always kind and patient and did a fantastic job of teaching me what I needed to know.

He told me he was proud of his family and thankful for the loving environment he grew up in.

Rest in peace Tyler. You'll always be sitting next to me when I fly.
