Jeanne Mae Johnston was born on February 6th 1953 to Fred Kindopp and Mary Moore in Miles City, MT. She was called home as she passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 12th 2023.

In her youth she was a go-getter. She was also a little rebellious. One time she took a snow-mobile down a steep hill after being told it was too dangerous just to get a reaction from her parents.

Jeanne would play Gin Rummy and beat everyone at the table. She left her sister Paige dumbfounded at the idea that Jeanne understood the game so well. She was undefeated.
She attended Sidney High School. While there she became the first woman in the school to have the first chair playing trumpet in both band and pep band. She was very proud of this accomplishment, and she graduated in 1971.

After high school she moved to Billings, MT, where she graduated from the Coiffure Arts Academy with a degree in Cosmetology. She loved being a beautician and was very good at it. Her favorite part was making all the ladies feel beautiful.

In 1980 she met and married Greg Johnston and moved to Texas. During this union a son, Jeremy Johnston, was born in 1981. Jeanne loved and doted on Jeremy. She and Greg divorced in 1983.

In 1995 Jeanne met Tom Prevost. They were together for many years and he was the love of her life. She loved playing music with him and he made her feel as special as she was.

She gained a daughter in 2001 when her son met his wife, Kehanna. Jeanne and Kehanna were very close and loved spending time together. In 2006, her granddaughter Ashlynn was born. In 2009, Korbyn-Artreyu made his debut as her first grandson and Keltic-James made his appearance in 2013. Her three grandchildren were the sparkle in her eye. The look of pure love and joy when she was with them was priceless.

All the children in her son and his wife's family called her grandma. Her special treats were LifeSaver Mints. She always had a full bag to divide among the kids.

Jeanne’s friend Mark Berg and Jeanne had their own language when they were together. He would get her laughing so hard her cheeks would turn red. She was also very close to her brother Gary and her sister Paige. One of her favorite joys was calling them and catching up with them. Other special people in her life included her mother Mary, her stepfather Les and Greg’s sister Holly.

Jeanne was loved by so many people. When she loved you, you knew it. She had the biggest heart, loved to throw parties and to cook for her family. She loved to tell you stories and to make you laugh. She was a great listener and always had a hug for you. She never left by saying goodbye; it was always “see you later.”

She is survived by: her son Jeremy (Kehanna) Johnston; Grandchildren Ashlynn Johnston, Korbyn-Artreyu Johnston, and Keltic-James Johnston all of Sidney, MT; Brother Gary Kindopp of Sidney, MT; Sister Paige George of Billings, MT; Niece Hanna (Brad) Wagner of Billings, MT; Nephews Trenton (Katherine) Kindopp of Carlsbad, N.M., Bo (Deb) Kindopp of Sidney, MT, Sage Rugg of Plevna, MT, and Evan George of Billings, MT; Uncle Roscoe Emly of Sidney MT; Aunt Irene Emly of Sidney, MT; And numerous other aunts, uncles, great nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her father Friedrick Kindopp; Mother Mary M. Moore; Stepfather Les Moore; brother-in-law Ron George; sister-in-law Linda Kindopp; life partner Tom Prevost; uncle Albert Emly; ex mother-in-law Jeannine Williams and ex-husband Greg Johnston.
