Edsel Robert Schilling was born March 24, 1943, in Sidney, MT to Robert “Bob” and Corinne (Simard) Schilling. He married Beverly Johnson on June 1, 1962. They moved to Sidney, MT in 1974 where they made their home.

Ed worked construction with Johnson Lumber and then he started in the oil patch servicing saltwater disposals. Ed and Bev purchased their farm across the river where they raised their three children Machelle, Laurie, and Robert.

Ed and Bev enjoyed many years with family and friends over at the lake house at Tobacco Gardens and their retirement home in Yuma Arizona. Ed was a devoted husband taking care of his wife for many years after her stroke. Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, and ranching and his time in the oil patch.

Ed’s health eventually deteriorated. He moved to Minot Health and Rehab where he spent his last years. He enjoyed his stay there. He made many friends and was voted in as Resident President and took his responsibility very seriously.

To the family of Ed,
Deepest Sympathies during this difficult time. I remember Ed bringing squash and other veggies to the grocery store where I worked. It was him and a grandson I believe. Then when his wife and him moved to tobacco gardens he would call in a grocery order and pick it up on his way thru from Sidney to Tobacco Gardens. Always pleasant to visit with and always had time to gab for a little bit. May he rest in peace.

To Ed's family- I would like to share a memory. Ed graduated with me in 1962. At that time we called him Eddie. This was in the days that a suit and tie were the required dress for graduation. We had a kid in our class whose parents could not afford a suit and white shirt and tie. Ed was the one who collected funds from all of us and that fellow had dress shoes, a new suit, a white shirt and tie for graduation. Whenever I think of Eddie Schilling, I remember this kindness.
Sincere condolences. Doug and Jeanne Hall

My dad is currently at Minot Health and Rehab. While visiting my dad, I have gotten to know a group of his friends that he made there. Over the last couple of years those people became good friends and like family to my dad. One of those people was Ed. I had the privilege of getting to know him and visit with him almost every time I was there. I am going to miss visiting with him when I go to visit my dad. My sympathy goes out to his family, so sorry for your loss.

I had the honor of meeting Ed while visiting my mother at Minot Health and Rehab while she was recovered from a broken hip and wrist. She was 95 and suffering from dementia as well. She was not always able to speak up for herself, but Ed was always so kind and really watched out for her. I will be forever grateful for Ed's kindness, compassion, and patience. Heaven has gained what we have lost.
