Gerhard "Gerry" Ewald Reichenbach, 84, passed peacefully at the Sidney Health Center in the early morning of August 24, 2023.

Gerry was born in Germany on January 21, 1939, and arrived in Fairview, ND after a short stay in Oklahoma with his father Ewald, mother Charlotte, and 5 siblings - Brothers Walter and Ullrich and sisters Waltraut, Gisela and Evelyne. In 1957, the family became US citizens.

Gerry followed in his father’s farming footsteps. Known for hard work, he helped several local farmers - learning from them as well, but not until after the family farm work was finished. He still found time to join the Fairview Boxing Club. Under the tutelage of Bud Star, Gerry, along with several local stars helped put Fairview on the national map by bringing home a 1963 Heavyweight Golden Glove Championship.

In 1964, Gerry married a local girl - Beverly Ann Biehl. They bought a farmstead in 1966 and started their family.

Gerry was chosen to be the honored “Old Timer” at 2023’s Fairview Old Timer’s Festival, which was his most cherished achievement. He was an active pillar of the Fairview community, participating in the Jaycees, school and church boards, and awarded multiple Key Man awards.

Gerry was preceded in death by his parents, Ewald and Charlotte, and 2 daughters: Lori age 17 and Lisa at birth.

Surviving Gerry are all his siblings, loving wife Beverly, son Bret Reichenbach and his children Dane, Garett and Reed; Lynda and KC Snyder and their children Mackenzie, Ty and Taysha; Brenda and Jeris DeBoer and their children Chase, Alexis, Faith, and Nevaeh; a supporting community of friends, and a mournful flock of 50 some sheep in summer pasture.
