Robert Nielsen, 79, of Stanley, ND passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at his home in Stanley, ND.

Robert Allen Nielsen was born on November 27, 1943 to Jens P. and Izola J.R. Nielsen in Minot, ND. During his senior year of high school he moved with his family to Bismarck, ND where he graduated high school. Robert later moved to Grafton, ND where he worked at Jet Oil and Wally’s. This is where he met and married his (ex) wife Susan F. Kosobud. Robert served in the United States Army and was also in the Color Guard.

Robert and Susan moved to Fergus Falls, MN where he first worked as an architect for Lampert Lumber. The couple later moved to Wahpeton, ND and started their family while he continued to work for Lampert’s until he retired. In 1988 after his divorce Robert moved back to Stanley, ND to be near his parents. This is where he would reside until the time of his death.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Nicole Nielsen; son, Cory (Theresa) Nielsen; sister, Carol Jean Becker; grandchildren, Nicholas Jacobson (Trina Couture), Shawnya Jacobson, Madelyn Nielsen, Emily Nielsen, and Christopher Nielsen; great-grandchildren, Lukas Hooper, Olivyah Hooper, Robert Hooper, Payton Couture, and Kolby Jacobson.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Jens and Izola; and his brother, James Nielsen.

Will never forget how welcoming Bob was when I moved to Stanley, very kind and befriended me right away and will never forget. Rest In Peace and prayers to the family in this difficult time.
