Byron C. Enget
July 23, 1949 - March 2, 2024

Place of Birth: Powers Lake, North Dakota
Residence: Powers Lake, North Dakota
Age: 74

Byron Curtis Enget was born July 23, 1949 in Powers Lake, ND to Herman and Evelyn Enget. While growing up in Powers Lake and during his Junior High and High School years, Byron helped out on farms for many friends and relatives, including his Grandpa and Grandma Brenden, who he developed a close bond with. He also worked at Cenex at this time. After graduation in 1967, he served in the Army National Guard, and was honorably discharged.

Byron was mechanically gifted, working and fixing anything from a VCR to heavy equipment. He was always up for a challenge to see if he could fix it or build it. Welding and carpentry were also a source of work and hobbies for him. He enjoyed building cabinets while working a short time for Lacy Grubb. Welding was for work, and making fun gifts for friends and family.

At an early age, Byron developed a love for music. Around the age of 6 he made a record recording at his Uncle Orville's make-shift studio, singing Jambalaya. Later in life he lived in Oxnard, Ventura, and Bakersfield, California areas, where he sang and played guitar in bands. Here he met many life-long friends as well as a few celebrities! He was employed as a mechanic and operated heavy equipment, and broke horses during this time as well.

In the 1980s he moved back to the Powers Lake area and worked as a mechanic and again helping out his cousins & friends on the farm from time to time. Most recently helping at Kathy Nesets.

In 1995 Byron suffered an inoperable aneurysm, and against all odds, lived with it for nearly 30 years.

He had a big heart and wanted to help out when he could. He tried to keep in touch and up to date with everyone. He enjoyed visiting with people, especially his children and grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of his life!

Byron is survived by son, Travis O. (Britta) of Tioga, ND; grandchildren, Ansley, Elena, Ruby; honorary granddaughter, Ashlyn; brothers, Kurt (Diane) of Sioux Falls, SD, Kelly (Rhonda) of Powers Lake, ND; sisters, Corrine (Steve) Melberg of Battleview, ND, Colette (Gary) Ramsdell of Powers Lake, ND; and numerous nephews and nieces and close friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman & Evelyn; infant brother, Herman Jr; grandparents, Adolph & Margret Brenden and Bennie O. & Selma Enget; several aunts, uncles, and close cousins and friends.

I will miss you Byron. You made me laugh every time I saw you and always had a good joke to tell. I don’t think I’ll ever hear “Bonnie Swens” again - your nickname for me!! I don’t think you ever called me by any other name!! My condolences go out to his immediate family as I know he will be sorely missed by them. Godspeed Byron. Say hi to Grandma Selm!
