Jimmie A. Hicks, 65, of Williston, ND passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024 at his residence in Williston, ND.
Jimmie was born on January 13, 1959 in Williston, ND to George “Jim” Hicks and Shirley Ann (Haug) Hoburka. He was raised in town and on the family farm. Jimmie graduated from Williston High School in 1977 where he played football and wrestled. In 1973 Jimmie was the Wrestling Rotary Champion at 105 lbs.
After graduating from WHS, Jimmie entered the workforce working for various oil companies throughout the Williston Basin. In April of 1980, he relocated to Colorado to work on oil rigs and eventually brought his own crew to Cutbank, MT. While in Cutbank, he met and married Carol Berryman in 1981. To that marriage, Sadie and Chelsea were born. In 1984, Jimmie and his family moved back to Williston where he worked for Sun Well Service and Pool Well Service. Jimmie attended UND-Williston where he earned his degree. After learning about heavy metals, Jimmie worked for Dakota Catalyst until they closed, and by 2000 he was picked up by Sabin Metals, where he was a plant manager, until the time of his passing. Jimmie met Tracy Kringen and they have spent the past 10 years together.
Jimmie was a devoted father who enjoyed waterskiing, fishing, gardening, dancing and spending time with friends around a bonfire. He was also a good friend to many and remained in touch with multiple classmates throughout the years. Jimmie loved catching Peacock Bass and other exotic fish in his many adventures on the Amazon River.
Jimmie may be gone from our sight, but not our memories, he may be gone from our touch but never our hearts.
You always saw Jimmie in a plaid shirt and jeans…..please feel free to wear the same attire to his service in Remembrance Of Jimmie.
