Sharry Hagen, 78, of Palermo, ND, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at the Trinity Health Hospital in Minot, ND.

Sharry Darlene Hagen was born November 12, 1945 in Bozeman, MT to Mary and Francis Buddenberg. Her father was adopted by a Buddenberg and her mother was adopted by a step-father. In December 1949, Sharry's father left their home in Pony, MT to never be heard from again. Her mother waited out the winter and the birth of her last child before moving her family of five children back to North Dakota in August 1950.

Sharry attended school in Bowden, ND until the 8th grade, then moved to Jamestown to finish out the 11th grade and obtain her GED. She was a mischievous child and pulled many pranks; never fearing the consequences of her actions, and that trait carried on throughout the rest of her life. Her mother had her hands full raising five children alone and Sharry did not make life easy on her, as she was quite the handful.

She met Larry Hagen Sr. at the Snake Pit in Sanish, ND and they married December 9, 1967 and lived on their ranch near Charlson, ND. They had four children; Molly, Kari, Larry Jr, and Lovetta. They divorced in 1977 and she moved to various places, mainly Williston. She enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, watching old westerns, and various frowned upon activities. Sharry did not concern herself with what anyone thought of her and lived her life on her terms. She would take her children fishing and camping during their summer visitation and they always looked forward to seeing her. She was fun to be around with all of her antics. After breaking her back at work, she required surgery after surgery to repair life-long spinal issues and endured daily pain which affected the quality of her life.

She met Dwain Newnam and they were together for 26 years until his passing on August 14, 2018. Declining health slowed her down, but did not stop her. Sharry loved the peace and solitude of living on the farm, but also loved going to town to see her friends and make her rounds. She had a very good sense of humor, yet cross her, watch out, as she liked a good fight. She was a very generous person and did whatever she could to help another in need. She was a wild child that grew up to be a wild woman with many memorable tales. Sharry was a free spirit who marched to the beat of her own drum. May her restless spirit finally find peace.

She is survived by her children; Molly (Tracy) Moore, Kari Hagen, Larry (Shelly) Hagen Jr; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Randi (Cody) Swanson and their children Layla and Lanie, T.J. (Meghan) Moore and their son Huxton, Sheridon Schwartzenberger and his children Jace and Hope, Annie (Jordan) Heinrich, and Keeley and Lathan Hagen; brother, John Buddenberg; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lovetta; partner Dwain; sister, Joan Waliser (brother-in-law Allen); brothers, Kenny Buddenberg and Richard Buddenberg (who recently passed May 27, 2024); niece, Kelly Waliser; and sister-in-law, Nancy Buddenberg.
