Deborah Ann Whittier, 39, of Williston, ND passed away on June 18th, 2024. Debbie was born on July 13, 1984 to Steven Whittier and Katherine (Murray) Redenbaugh in Breckenridge, Minnesota. She spent all twelve years in the Williston school system before obtaining an Associate of Applied Science degree from Williston State College.

From a very young age, Debbie developed a lifelong interest in outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. Her musical talents were enjoyed by all as she sang in the church choir for many years as well as numerous weddings for friends and family. Known by those closest to her for her sense of quick whit and love of a good laugh, one of Debbie’s favorite shirts she owned said “If we are in a ‘don’t laugh situation’, don’t look over at me!” Her beautiful smile could light up a room which was only surpassed in impact by her kind and loving heart.

Debbie will be profoundly missed by her children, Abigail Hodnefield and Austin Hodnefield; siblings, Brian Whittier (Jennifer), David Whittier (Michelle), Brenda Connelly (Leon); mother, Katherine Redenbaugh (Bruce); stepdad, Danni Thorpe;  nephews, Alex Donovan, Cameron Whittier, Shane Kemnitz, Aaron Whittier, Nathan Whittier, Brody Connelly, Aiden Weisz, Dillon Connelly, Bryson Connelly, Gavin Weisz, Andrew Connelly, along with an extended loving family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Steven Whittier; grandparents, John L. and Marjorie Whittier, and Robert and Frances Murray.

Debbie’s greatest passion and accomplishment in life was being a devoted mother to her two incredible children. She poured as much love as she had into raising Abigail and Austin, finding great joy in attending everything from basketball games to county fair judging for 4H. They were the light of her life and represented her deepest pride and joy. Her memory will be cherished and live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Where does one begin Deb always had the most beautiful smile. I saw her about 2 weeks ago, & we hugged each other, then she was on the run to get her next delivery dropped off. She was such a kind woman. I loved running into her. She was such a beautiful soul.

Abbey, Austin, I don’t know where to begin with this. Your beautiful momma will always be with you. She won’t leave your side for a single minute. She was soooo very proud of you both, she would brag about you both, and when she talked about you 2, she had this special gleam in her eyes with a smile that would light up the world. You both were her everything. She loved you both very much. Treasure all your memories, and keep them close to your heart
Sweet girl, you will be so sadly missed by many. Fly high and let your light shine bright in the sky so Abbey and Austin can see you.

I cannot put into words the sadness I feel that you were taken from this life at such an early age. I will remember that radiant smile that lit up the room, your soft and gentle way, and the look on your face the day you faced and walked the fire. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

There are many wonderful childhood memories I have that include Deb. She was always laughing at the stupid things I said and did. We haven’t seen each other in years. However, I will miss you girl. May God be with your family in these times. Until we meet again!
