Jon Wolla
September 5, 1964 - October 19, 2024

Residence: Tioga, North Dakota

Jon Wolla, 60, of Tioga, ND passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at CHI St. Alexius in Bismarck, ND.

Jon Mark Wolla was born to James & Karol Jean Wolla on September 5th, 1964. He was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Tioga, ND. Jon attended Tioga High School and graduated in 1982. This is where he met the love of his life, Sheila. After high school, he attended & finished college in Glendive, MT for Auto Mechanics/Welding.

Jon & Sheila were united in marriage on May 30th, 1987, at First Lutheran Church. They were high school sweethearts; Jon was very proud of that. They were married for 37 amazing years. In the fall of 1987, they moved to East Grand Forks, MN where they met some of their lifelong friends. In 1991, they had their first born, Kalab and in 1993, they welcomed their daughter, Kendra. In 1997 they moved back to Tioga to be closer to family. Family was something that was always very important to Jon.

Jon worked at Sheldon Welding for 27 years. Through those many years of employment, he met so many people and made many lifelong friends. Jon has always been a hard-working & loving person. A true genuine kind soul. His sense of humor and his poetic jokes are something he will be remembered for.

Jon was happiest when he was with his family. His 6 grandchildren were the light of his life. He enjoyed visiting his son and their family down in North Carolina. When he couldn’t make it down south, he and Kalab enjoyed a game of dice via facetime. He was very proud of both of his kids. Jon was looking forward to planting, cultivating & singing to Gabe & Kendra’s trees at their new home. Jon enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing dice, lots of time in his tractor, being behind a grill and traveling with his beautiful wife. He was an avid motorcyclist and was very proud of his latest Harley Davidson trike. He and Sheila had many fun trips. One of his most memorable trips with Sheila was when she surprised him and they rode to Sturgis on his trike.

Throughout his life, Jon had always struggled with health issues. These last few months were the hardest for him. His loving wife and family were always by his side. Jon always received so much support and everyone who was lucky enough to meet him would say he was the nicest man you ever met.

Jon is survived by his wife, Sheila; son, Kalab (Josie) Wolla; daughter, Kendra (Gabe) Karg; grandchildren, Ryder, Lawler, Lucy, Cooper, Charlie and Miller; mother, Karol Jean Wolla; siblings, Jay (Susan) Wolla, Kristi (Duane) Knudson, and Kathi (David) Meland; father & mother-in-law, Carl & Gisela Wold; aunt, Ione Leholm; and numerous nieces & nephews, great-nieces, and nephew & cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Wolla; grandparents, Emil & Myrtle Moratzka, and Christ (Josie) Wolla; aunt & uncle, Chet and Darlene Wolla; brother-in-law, Sheldon Wold; and cousin, Christopher Wolla.

Jon was the bravest person I ever knew or even heard of. He never let the diabetes keep him from living life. Many, many happy memories of Jon on motorcycle trips and in Tioga. Godspeed, my friend.

You’re free at last Jon! You were the closest person to a brother I ever had. While we mourn at this time, I know your dad, Grandma Josie, Bop & Nan, Chet, Darlene, Chris and more are up there with you give them all a hug from us! Not a goodbye. It’s a “see you later, Bro”. Love you! Mike

Jon was one of my first friends in early grade school and we spent many days building lego towns and playing matchbox cars. My first job was with Jon and we mowed lawns. His dear Grandparents would make us homemade mac and cheese and we'd drink Tab or Fresca. He was a fighter and an wonderful family man. RIP dear friend and condolences to Sheila and all the family.
