“The Way It Was”

Donald “Pops” Wayne Ligon was born on February 8, 1934, to Floyd and Grace (Davis) Ligon. He had two older sisters: Phyllis and Jean. He lived his entire 90 years of life in Lambert. Don attended school in Lambert, graduating in the class of 1952.

He married Margaret (Moen) Ligon on May 10, 1952. They were married for 72 years. To this union were born six children: Denise, Bronwyn, Brian, Dion, Paige, and Louie.

Don had many jobs throughout his lifetime. He farmed after the early death of his father, worked at the sugar beet factory, sold cars, custom combining, hauled fuel, had a partnership with Allen Thiessen with real estate and school buses, and the salvage yard with son Dion. In his free time, Don was a pilot, raced cars, and had extensive knowledge and interest in cars, having restored several.

Don passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Friday, October 25, 2024, at his home in Lambert, MT surrounded by his loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his sister Phyllis, his father and mother, his sister Jean Gladowski, grandson Mitchell, daughter Broni, son-in-law Buck Herman, a great-grandson, and a great-great-grandson.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife Margaret; his children and spouses: daughter Denise Herman, son-in-law Roger Meyer, son Brian (Sandy) Ligon, son Dion (Diane) Ligon, daughter Paige (Craig) Kennedy, and son Louie (Kari) Ligon; as well as 19 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

So sorry for the loss of your Dad, Grandpa. Don was our bus driver many years ago and as a past bus driver myself, I hope as kids we weren’t too naughty! I always loved watching the Lambert parade and the cool cars Don entered in it which his kids have carried on.
It’s not easy losing a parent no matter how old they are. Prayers to you all during this time.
