Rance Jacob Bennett, son of the late Robert “Bobby” Bennett and Joan Bennett entered this world on December 22, 1980, in Fredonia, Kansas. He attended West Elk High School where he excelled in many areas. Rance was well known for his state accomplishments in wrestling for West Elk as well as being a member of the High School football team and Flint Hills 4-H Club.
Rance went on to build a career in the oil field as a tool pusher for Nabors Drilling and has left a lasting impact on many of his crew members throughout the years. However, if you were to ask Rance what his greatest accomplishment in life was, he would proudly answer that it was being blessed to be the father Ivan Jacob and Teagan Isabelle. Whether it was buying numerous art supplies or listening to hours of Taylor Swift, he was always ready to be the biggest cheerleader for his children.
He was known by many for his loyalty and readiness to be there with a helping hand whenever needed. But even bigger was his unwavering loyalty to KU basketball, football, and of course, Allen Fieldhouse. “And don’t forget, this is the Cowboy’s year,” …. Said every year, repeatedly, to whoever would listen.
Rance left this world on November 26, 2024, in New Town, North Dakota. He is preceded in death by his father Robert “Bobby” Bennett, Jr.; grandparents Robert Sr., Isabelle (Ward) Bennett, J.C. Wiseman, and Mary Hope (Carter) Wiseman.
He leaves to cherish his memory: son Ivan Jacob Bennett, daughter Teagan Isabelle Bennett of Minot, North Dakota; mother Joan Bennett of Moline, Kansas; partner-in-life Heather Spence of El Dorado, Kansas; and four legged buddies Udoka and Remy.
A Celebration of Life for Rance will be held at First Methodist Church in Howard, Kansas; date and time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rance’s name to West Elk High School Wrestling (USD 282) for their new wrestling room.
