It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Sara Lawrence Cook
August 6, 1950 - December 15, 2024

Place of Birth: Richmond, Indiana
Residence: Watford City, North Dakota
Age: 74

Sara Lawrence Peacock Cook, 74, resident of Watford City, died on December 15th, 2024 following a long battle with illness, surrounded by her family; husband John, their two sons and lights of her life, Zachary and his wife Katelyn, and Joshua, and his wife Rebecca. Sara is also survived by her brother, Robert Peacock, retired judge, Washington D.C, her nieces and their families, and many more loved ones. Sara was born in Richmond, Indiana on August 6th,1950, the daughter of Francis and Amelia Peacock. Most of her early childhood was spent in Germany where her father was stationed as an Air Force officer, and where she learned to speak fluent German. In 1968, she graduated from high school in Maryland and attended the University of Maryland, studying Interior Design, choosing it as a lifelong profession and joy. She used her knowledge and talent to introduce beauty and interest to every home she designed.

In 1973, Sara married John at Fort Huachuca, Arizona where he was assigned as an instructor and she was an administrative assistant at the US Army Intelligence School. From there, they spent three years in Germany where John was assigned as an Army officer. During those three years they traveled throughout much of Europe. Sara's favorite city was Florence, Italy, which she visited several times. These travels only deepened her love and fascination with European history and style.

Her zest for life was both broad and varied, and her capacity to love was unmatched. Sara's generosity extended to all she met and loved. In conversation, she made you feel like the most important person in the room. She practiced her Interior Design profession for over thirty years in southern Maryland, owning her own shop in Dunkirk, Maryland. Later in life, she turned her interests to writing and published three novels involving mystery, intrigue, and a dash of romance, with her brother as co-author. She was adamant that they must be as historically accurate as possible, and her diligent research achieved this goal.

Memorial Contribution
In lieu of flowers, she has requested that donations be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or in support of your local animal rescue. (She would strongly suggest Angel's Wish TNR in Watford City.)
