It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Jannette Lee Wood
May 10, 1952 - April 7, 2025

Place of Birth: Los Angeles, California
Residence: Alexander, North Dakota
Age: 72

With hearts full of love and sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Jannette on April 7, 2025. She was the beating heart of our family—a wise, funny, and fiercely strong woman whose presence could fill a room and whose stories could capture generations.

Jannette had an uncanny way of bringing the past to life. Whether sharing tales from her youth or dropping unforgettable one-liners and old-school sayings like “nuts and bolts and washers,” she always left you smiling, thinking, or both.

She was upbeat, witty, and full of life. She had a deep love for nature and an even deeper love for her family. Intelligent and curious, she loved to read and learn—book smart, yes, but also a proud graduate of the school of hard knocks, with honors.

Jannette was the strongest woman we’ve ever known, with a beautiful soul and a spirit that radiated joy. Her love for life was contagious, her laugh unforgettable, and her wisdom lasting. She was deeply loved, and her legacy will continue in the lives she touched.

Jannette is survived by her son, Jack “Chance” Rider; daughters, Desiree Rider, Rayleene Rider, Deanna (Timothy) Lilly, Poppy Bergland; brother, John Wood; son-in-law, Leroy Dominguez; daughter-in-law, Shawna Ganwall; and family friend, Linda Simon.

Jannette is preceded in death by her parents, Myrnell and Jack Wood; significant other, Scott “Glen” Bergland; son, Justin Rider; granddaughter, Alexius Caballero; and son-in-law, David Caballero.

You were always the strongest woman I’ve ever known. You taught me to love myself for who I am and to see the beauty in others, knowing we’re all just finding our way through life. You showed me how to look beyond the surface, to never judge a book by its cover—literally or figuratively.
You taught me to trust my intuition while still believing in the good in the world. You gave me a love for language, the power of big words, and the wisdom to use them with care. You taught me to speak with grace, not anger—to express myself intelligently without cursing. And yes, to sit up straight, because confidence begins in how you carry yourself.
There’s no way to measure the wisdom you’ve passed down. I only hope I can pass on even a piece of that to my children and grandchildren. I know you're still with me and always will be, until we meet again in heaven. Thank you for loving me unconditionally.
