Mark Marler St. Peter, 68, passed away March 26, 2025 at the Vibra Hospital of the Central Dakotas in Mandan, ND. He was born October 21, 1956 in Williston, ND to Jack Sr and Ramona St. Peter.
Mark attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School while in elementary, Williston Junior High and then Williston Senior High, graduating in 1974. Upon graduation, he entered the military, serving in the Army for 4 years, where he learned his trade as a heavy equipment mechanic. He loved his country and proudly served. During his service time in the Army, he met Jimmy Musco and Henry Poth to which he remained great friends with for over 50 years. After leaving the miliary, he went on to attend Dickinson State College and graduated with a heavy equipment operators’ degree. Mark worked for Wisco, Guardian Inspection, which later became Ico, and most recently being named as Tuboscope, until his health declined. Throughout his career he was always a dedicated employee.
He will be remembered as being a strong man, physically, emotionally and spiritually and lived his life by a moral code of ethics. If his family or anyone he knew experience a need, he would be there without fail, for whatever it was they needed.
Later in his adult life, he married Duanne (Dodi) Whittle, which he opened his heart to a became a step-dad to Brian and Bradley. After divorcing, he met Gail Senti Mead to whom he remained married to until her passing in 2023. It was to that union that he welcomed Jake, Marshall, Elizabeth and Bethany into his life; creating his big instant family. Gail and Mark together share one child; a son, Benjamin. Mark was so proud of all of his children and grandchildren. He was a dedicated, hardworking family man who had a huge heart having been a loyal husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His passion in life, when not working or spending time with his family was hunting and fishing. At a very young age, he went “frog” hunting, bringing his “collection” home and filling the mud room floor with water to keep them alive. While not initially impressed with his desire to save all of his new “friends” he brought home, his parents finally were able to find humor in it, sharing the story and talking about this for years. He became a master skill level deer hunter, trapper and fisherman. Everyone would call Mark for advice, even the most seasoned hunter and fisherman. His hunting buddies, Mic Whittle, Vinney Kirkegaard, Darryl and Duffy Pomeroy and Mike Quitt, became his “brothers” and life-long friends.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Benjamin, Jake, Marshall, Elizabeth and Bethany; along with his brother, Kirk (Renee); sisters, Lisa (Scott) and Myia (Curt). Mark is preceded in death by his wife Gail; his parents, Jack Sr and Ramona; his brother, Jack Jr; sister, Tana; grandparents, Benjamin and Leona St. Peter and Herman and Lavisa Marler; his nephews, Brock and Ethan.

Mark was a great friend and will be missed dearly. I will miss our conversations about things I had new nothing about. He taught me so much about hunting and fishing. Coming from new jersey I never shot a gun . He had to be the best dad because he was a great teacher. When we in the army we took leave to travel from Kansas to New Jersey, Mark met my family, bus from New York to North Dakota. I met mark's family and we flew back to Kansas. This was the trip of a lifetime. He told me to think of him on my next motorcycle ride and I sure will he will always be one of my very best friends I miss you dearly, your friend jim and his wife Cathy

Mark keeping me company at Merwin's house.
Mark was a great friend to my uncle, Merwin Wieler. When my uncle passed, I first met him at the funeral. Boy the stories! As I was going through Merwin's house, he would come over and keep me company, tell me stories of their shenanigans in their younger years and offer his help. He made that time bearable, as only he could. We kept in touch over the years, since, with long phone calls. During those long phone calls he imparted wisdom about the great outdoors, survival, and lots of humor! Oh, and more stories of my uncle! These conversations made it feel like my uncle wasn't really gone. He was that connection. They are both probably fishing in heaven right now. Mark will surely be missed. My prayers are with you, his family, at this time.
